This two-day workshop will introduce handlers and their gundogs to the world of British shooting. As well as covering plenty of practical exercises to help you and your gundog get ready for your first shoot, the workshop will cover the essential etiquette you need to know, as well as the theory behind a beating line and the responsibilities required by the picking up team.

- Dogs which have already been introduced to shot
- Those looking to work their dogs in the field, who are new to the world of field sports

- The equipment required for working your dog on a shoot
- Picking up and beating scenarios
- Sweeping up exercises
- Marking in cover
- Exposure to shotguns
- How to humanely dispatch birds (NB real birds will not be used)
- Cold game retrieves (depending on availability)
- Hunting and heelwork in a variety of cover crops
If you would like to make a weekend of it, this two-day workshop can be combined with part two of our Training Steadiness with Live Game Workshop on Saturday 21st September. Those attending this workshop can ignore the note about having to have attended part one and can book straight onto part two.
