Going for a Bumble Camp (All Breeds) - 14th to 16th August 2025

This three-day Going for a Bumble camp will help you teach your working and pet gundog the difference between going out hunting and going out for social pleasure, i.e. a walk.

There is a great deal of debate, conflict and confusion around the subject of whether to let your dog run free, off lead in the countryside, irrespective of whether it is a family pet or a working gundog.

In this in-person workshop, you will learn the ultimate steps to communicate with your pet or working gundog the difference between ‘going for a walk’ and ‘going hunting’ in the same stimulating environment.

Our Going for a Bumble Camp, led by Helen and Lynsey, is suitable for…

• All breeds of gundog including retrievers, spaniels and HPRs
• Gundogs working at all levels
• Pet gundog owners
• Those looking to work their dog in the field or participate in working tests
• Those who have worked their dogs on the shoot and are struggling to keep them close now that the season has finished
• Anyone with a gundog which makes a beeline to the horizon as soon as they are off lead, which enjoys chasing wildlife, and which often becomes too engrossed in hunting to respond to cues like recall.

• How to use rewards to maintain connection and partnership in challenging situations
• Teaching a check-in behaviour and how to progress this
• Teaching the catch-up game
• The art of “having a Kit-Kat” and learning to relax in a stimulating environment
• Creating an invisible piece of string between you and your dog using circuits
• Teaching your dog to change direction with you using the this-way game
• How to decide how far away your dog should be from you at any given point
• How to play hunting games to help keep your dog with you
• Progressing these games and bumbling in the real world
