Gundog Assessment Programme (GAP) Assessment Days

Recognise the progress you and your dog have made with a Gundog Assessment Programme (GAP) assessment at Clicker Gundog.

Whether you train for fun or are working towards a role in the shooting field, an assessment gives you an opportunity to demonstrate your skills, identify what needs more practice and plan your next steps.

Our GAP assessment days are suitable for…

• Pet and working gundogs, including retrievers, spaniels and HPRs.
• Handlers who would like a clear goal to work towards and an opportunity to assess their progress.
• Those who have prepared the exercises for their chosen level and feel ready to put their learning into practice.

You do not need to work your dog on a shoot or aim to complete the whole programme to take part.

Which GAP level are you working towards?

Developed by the Gundog Trainers Academy, GAP has six progressive levels across three stages:

• Foundation: Levels 1 and 2. Demonstrate the core skills and communication that underpin your gundog training.
• Enhanced: Levels 3 and 4. Show how those skills hold up as distance, distractions and excitement increase.
• Graduate: Levels 5 and 6. Bring your learning together through practical challenges, with Level 6 demonstrating readiness for shoot work.

The programme follows ethical, evidence-led, non-coercive training principles, with progression guided by your dog’s readiness.

Booking your GAP assessment

Please check and read the requirements for that level before booking and then choose your assessment date and level from the available booking options.

There are options within GAP to take assessments without shot. If you would like this option, please contact us before booking to discuss.
