Our Gundog Puppy Progressor evening classes, led by Leanne, are suitable for...
- Anyone who has completed the Gundog Puppy Pre Evening Classes.
- All breeds of dog (not just gundogs) or crossbreeds that have a desire for retrieving and hunting and are aged 6 months and over.
- Anyone who is a complete beginner and has not done any gundog training before.
- Handlers with experience of gundog work but without any clicker training experience.
- Those wishing to work towards The Gundog Club Grade 1.
- Those looking to eventually work their gundog on a shoot (beating and picking up).
- Pet gundogs whose owners feel they would benefit from doing some gundog training.
- Owners who wish to let their labradors, spaniels, pointers and vizslas off lead safely in the countryside.
Our Gundog Puppy Progressor evening classes are held weekly.
Our classes will be held on Wednesday evenings from 6pm to 7:30pm (see dates above). The course is made up of 4 classes.
Each week, the tasks will progress from the week before. To get the most from this course, you will need to attend all 4 classes. Group numbers are limited to 8 dogs and handlers.
The Gundog Puppy Progressor evening classes will include…
- Continuing essential and basic obedience started in puppy prep classes such as recall and heelwork.
- Basic retrieving - an introduction to marked retrieves, breaking down each step of the pattern such as static heel position, verbal cues, sending the dog out, picking up the retrieve article, and returning to the handler.
- Introduction to hunting - building the dog's confidence and enthusiasm for controlled hunting on cue with definined roles for the dog and handler.
- Beginning to use interrupters while hunting and why this is important.
- Plus establishing a good relationship with your dog.
