121 Shoot Over Experience with Helen

The best way to cement your hunting, pointing and retriever training before going on an actual shoot day is to practice everything you’ve learned on live and freshly shot game.

Private one-to-one gundog shoot over training sessions with Helen Phillips are held at Clicker Gundog, on the small shoot we run just for training purposes. 

You will experience testing your dog’s ability and control in a more relaxed environment than on a formal shoot or competition. The 2- or 4-hour-long session will challenge both the handler's and the dog’s hunting ability, control and all general field skills. You will also be taught about the etiquette, roles and responsibilities of game shooting in the UK.

These 121 shoot-over experiences are suitable for those who think their gundog is ready to work on a shoot (beating, picking up, or rough shooting) but would like some experience in a training environment before entering a formal setting.

Dogs must have been exposed to shot before attending.

You will also need to bring a stick, a game carrier, and a priest. You will need to wear suitable clothing for shooting. You will also want your dog's whistle and lead, plus a towel to dry them with if they are wet and possibly a warm coat for them when left.
