Introduction to Shot (All Breeds)

Help your gundog build confidence and familiarity with the sound of a shot in this practical, supportive workshop. Whether you’re training your pet gundog as a hobby or preparing for working tests and competitions, this session is a key step in advancing your dog’s training.

Our Introduction to Shot Workshop, led by Leanne, is suitable for:

• All breeds and levels of gundogs who have not been introduced to shot before.
• Handlers who want to continue gundog training as a hobby with their pet.
• Those aiming to enter working tests or other competitions where shot will be used.
• Owners who want to build their dog’s confidence with sound training in a controlled environment.

Note: This workshop is not suitable for dogs who are known to be gun-shy or gun nervous. For this, we recommend booking one-to-one training instead.

Our Introduction to Shot Workshop will cover:

• Essential preparation work to ensure a positive introduction to shot.
• Key considerations such as wind direction and other environmental factors.
• Practical exercises progressing from a cap gun to a starter pistol and then a shotgun.
• Ensuring your dog is comfortable with the sound before incorporating formal retrieves.

This workshop offers a gradual and force-free approach, ensuring your dog is happy and confident every step of the way.
