Stop to Flush Workshop

If you're progressing with your stop whistle and are looking to move on to the next stage in training, this workshop will give you the knowledge and practical exercises needed to build a reliable stop to flush.

Our stop to flush workshop, led by Helen, is suitable for… 

• All breeds of gundog, such as retrievers, spaniels and HPRs, who have already started learning the stop whistle and are ready to progress with this.
• Anyone planning to work their dog, whether dogging in, rough shooting, or beating.
• Non-working pet gundogs who would benefit from learning exercises that teach them it is more rewarding to stop, rather than chase, when wildlife appears out on a walk.

Our stop to flush workshop will look at...

• Understanding the automatic stop to flush pattern.
• Where and when it fits into real-life scenarios and what is required from the dog depending on the work, e.g. dogging in, beating, rough shooting.
• Knowing when to use the stop whistle.
  
• Building responsive and engagement using games and exercises such as stalking and Whip It, and equipment such as a bolting rabbit.
  
• Teaching a release on cue for the pointing HPRs.
• The use of shot and where this fits into the pattern.
